“Whenever people ask me what Bhutan is like, I find the best way to describe it is like Narnia: it’s so remote and unlike anywhere else on Earth I’ve visited. And I urge them to visit before it’s too late, before everything inevitably changes,” shared photographer Margot Raggett, who captured the series. This is the iron chain bridge of Tamchog Lhakhang Monastery, Paro River, Bhutan.“Bhutan is one of the last remaining Kingdoms on Earth and describes itself as the happiest country on the planet and from what I have seen, they are quite right. The country’s wealth is measured by the happiness of its people, not GDP, and its people are extremely well cared for by the state.”“Crime levels are low, graffiti and litter are non-existent. People are required to wear traditional national dress, which leads to an explosion of colourful costumes wherever you go.”
“I was in Bhutan during the famous Paro Tshechu festival, which includes days of traditional dance performances for visitors from all over dressed in their finest attire.”“Apart from the many beautiful temples and breathtaking scenery, the best thing for me about Bhutan is the warmth and beauty of the people. It is truly a unique place to experience.” Monks enter the dzong (monastery) for the Paro Tshechu Festival.Stunning image of Punakha Dzong, Bhutan.Monks at Punakha Monastery.
